How we pick, and how we correct

The source hierarchy, the hotel thresholds, how AI is used, and what happens when we get something wrong.

Our source hierarchy

TierSourceHow we use it
Tier 1Official bodies: Da Nang city and tourism department, the national tourism board, the immigration e-visa portal, airport and rail operators, public health agencies, the central bank, and foreign-ministry travel advisories.Any claim about entry rules, health, safety, transport timetables or money links to one of these, with the date we checked it.
Tier 2Guest reviews (weighted to Vietnamese-language and long-term residents), local forums and community groups, established local press, and our own hotel database.Where places rank and why. Aggregated and dated, never a single review.
Tier 3Other travel publications. Background only, never the sole basis for a recommendation.

Wikipedia is never a primary source. If we cannot source a number, we do not print it.

Hotels: the thresholds

Guest score 8.5 or higher, at least 100 reviews, newest review inside twelve months, a price inside its tier band relative to the Da Nang median, and a clean sentiment pass on the last twenty reviews. Every entry names its honest catch before its merits, and the shortlists are rebuilt monthly so closed or slipping places drop off.

Food and things to do

Repeated mention by residents across at least two independent sources, plus a check on the ground. Where a famous place has turned into a tourist queue we keep it on the page and say so, because knowing when to go is half the advice.

AI use and human review

AI systems translate and cluster large sets of reviews, run sentiment analysis, and draft first summaries from public data. A human writes and checks every published guide against the sources and against the street. AI does not decide what we recommend.

Disclosure

We earn commissions on some hotel, tour, transfer and insurance bookings, and pages may carry display ads. Rankings are computed before any affiliate consideration and are never changed for commercial reasons. No paid placement, no free stays in exchange for coverage.

Updates and corrections

Every guide shows a last-updated date. Hotel lists refresh monthly. If you spot an error, tell us: corrections are made within seven days and noted on the page.

Plain English, second person, specific streets and prices. No superlatives we cannot back up, and no invented anecdotes.
